Wednesday 10/7 9 a.m.

Today is the day! Dustin had his staples removed yesterday and will be headed home this afternoon! Believe me, he is very excited about it. He will be happy to have visitors (from 3 - 9?), but please call first to make sure he's awake and feeling OK.

Tuesday 10/6 1p.m. Update

Dusty is going to be released tomorrow! He has been given the O.K. to leave tomorrow at 1p.m. Who would have thought that this could be possible? It's only been a little over two weeks since the accident and is doing so amazingly well. Just two weeks ago we were still praying for his life and were so afraid of the future. Isn't it amazing what God can do?

Monday Morning Update

Dustin enjoyed his day off yesterday but is back on heavy duty PT today. It is extremely painful and difficult for him due to the changed is pressure on his brain when he sits of stands up. This will improve eventually but we have no idea how long it will take. He is hoping to go home on Wednesday but I doubt it as things stand. It is more likely to be at least Friday or later.

Friday Afternoon Update

Dusty has been practicing walking and steps today and did extremely well. All of the exercises are going good for him but they sure do wear him out! He’s sound asleep right now trying to rest up for his visitation hours. He really looks forward to seeing all the friends and family that show up!

Friday Morning Update

Dustin has had his first really good sleep since he’s been here. He was sleeping so well that they decided to let him sleep in an extra hour this morning. He is continuing to improve every day and we have high hopes for a full recovery.

Thursday Afternoon Update

It has been an extremely difficult day for Dusty. He has had his first PT therapy in the gym and he was in more pain then we can even imagine from it. As a parent, it was one of the most difficult experiences of my life just watching. But, that being said, he did extremely well and I am very proud of the effort he put out through the pain. One day at a time and each day better then the last!
